As a performer Judith Lanigan is interested in the presentation of physical
circus skills through the medium of ‘clownthink’ and it is her circus
training and research that inform the physical skills learnt at the Moscow
State Circus School, Escuelo de Circo de Rogelio Rivel (Barcelona), The
Flying Fruit Flies National Training projects (Australia).
Studies in Clown with Angela D Castro, Magic with Andreu Sabadell, and
research into the Daikagura of Japan, the history of Burlesque and Clown
all contribute to the style of performance.
Her international touring has assisted in developing the standard of her
work by exposing her to the best in Circus and street theatre, Variete
and Burlesque. Judith Lanigan also writes show structures and storyline
for skill and clown specific acts ...click here

The Dying Swan
Created in 2000 Judith Lanigan’s solo piece ‘The Dying
Swan’ is a hula hoop act based on the ballet divertissement choreographed
by Fokine for Anna Pavlova in the early 20th century. Using hoop skills
learnt at the Moscow State Circus School (Judith Lanigan was the first
Australian artist to study there) and contemporary clown techniques, the
Dying Swan has played at many international Arts and Street Theatre festivals,
Comedy and Burlesque events and in Circus, both traditional and contemporary.
Judith Lanigan is acknowledged by Austrade as an Australian Export product
for her international touring with the The Dying Swan, which can be performed
in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Japanese.
