Miss Judy and

A True History of the Hula Hoop

A clown exposition of the history of the Hula Hoop for the street and stage.
A dramatic and comic re enactment of some of the major points of the development of the hula hoop, its use on the vaudeville stage of the early 19th century, and celebrates its use in schools in Australia prior to the ‘hula hoop craze’ by the singing the Australian national anthem while hula hooping in a handstand. The show also explores the development of the hula hoop in the communist countries of Russia and China as a circus discipline. The skill level of the show is at the top of its form and the comedy turns on Miss Judy’s digressions.

A True History of the Hula Hoop will be published by Picador (Pan Macmillan) in 2008/9
